ARGONNE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLSan Francisco, CASan Francisco Unified School DistrictCSDA programmed and designed a new, state-of-the-art, K-5 elementary school to serve approximately 540 students. CSDA also managed the demolition, hazardous materials remediation, site utilities design, landscaping, and parking design. The project is in an urban setting and includes 50,000 SF of classrooms, offices, an administrative area, and community spaces. Specialty environments include a media center consisting of music rooms and computer labs, a library, a food service area with a community kitchen, and a multi-use assembly building with retractable tables/seating, theatrical stage, sports flooring, and an after-school facility. All facilities were designed to provide flexible uses and to adapt to the changing needs of users as well as technological advances. Three separate recreation areas, divided according to grade level, also were designed and include a secure recreational area, a roof level recreation area, and a fenced sports field that features softball fields and basketball courts. This project was designed in association with Kendall Young Associates.
