CARONDELET HIGH SCHOOL MASTER PLAN,
NEW FACILITIES AND FACILITY RENOVATIONS

Concord, CA

Archdiocese of Oakland

Beginning in 1997, CSDA completed a long-range campus Master Plan that studied the campus needs of the Carondelet community over a ten-year period. Upon completion of the Master Plan, the Community's needs and objectives were prioritized and resulted in a five-phase campus improvement and development program. CSDA was retained to provide varied design services for all subsequent five phases of the program.

During Phase One of the program, CSDA prepared design and construction documents for the renovation and seismic upgrades of selected segments of existing facilities. Under Phase Two, CSDA designed a new 16,000-SF cafeteria/multi-use structure consisting of a dining area, commercial kitchen, and another ancillary area that provides daily food service for 500 students, and flexible spaces for any school or community event. Phase Three work consisted of upgrades to the faculty lounge and the remodeling and conversion of the old cafeteria to classrooms, meeting spaces, and a nurse's office. Phase Four provided for the modernization of academic spaces to meet modern teaching technology requirements. Phase Five incorporated the expansion of the existing gym to provide larger locker rooms and support facilities. Other additions will include a new parking garage with four tennis courts above the garage and an outdoor swimming pool. To date, an estimated $11 Million in construction has been completed and an additional estimated $5.4 Million in construction is anticipated.
