JUNIPERO SERRA HIGH SCHOOL
MASTER PLANNING AND NEW FACILITIES DESIGN
San Mateo, CA
Archdiocese of San Francisco
Initially CSDA was commissioned to prepare a Master Plan for Junipero Serra High School to increase
the total building area from 138,000 SF to 192,000 SF on the school's 12.2-acre campus site.
Upon completion of the Master Plan, CSDA was contracted to design additional instructional spaces,
upgrades to sports facilities, a small parking structure, storage facilities, and upgrades to major
site utilities. Specific athletic facilities designed by CSDA include a track and field/football field,
football and baseball bleachers, storage buildings, and a new 35-meter by 25-yard swimming pool designed
to host regulation swim meets and regulation water polo events. The construction budget for the first
two phases of the project consisting of site work and 46,000 SF of new space is approximately $16 Million.
Construction began in 2005 and will be completed in 2008.
